Abstract
This paper describe the investigation results on the observed ground liquefaction sites caused by the August 11, 2009 Suruga Bay Earthquake. The ground liquefaction was observed in the area between Shizuoka City and Omaezaki City. The liquefaction phenomenon particularly occurred in reclaimed lands in the Yaizu port and Omaezaki port. However, the comparison of the areal distribution of observed liquefaction sites with those observed in the past earthquakes indicates that they are very similar to each other and they are all located in alluvial ground as expected. The empirical relations for estimating the liquefaction limit distance, lateral spreading are in accordance with observed values.
